Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: October 18, 2026
Welcome to theghorse.com, operated by The Golden Horse LLC (“The Golden Horse,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located in Utah, United States.
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website, inquiries, and transactions with The Golden Horse, including horse sales and handmade saddle pad purchases.
By accessing or using our website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions to the extent permitted by applicable law. Product orders and horse purchases are also subject to any applicable policies and individual written agreements.
Please review these terms carefully before placing an order or purchasing a horse.
1. General Website Use
The information provided on this website is intended for general informational and business purposes.
We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current. However, pricing, availability, photographs, descriptions, and other website content may be updated or changed without prior notice.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any portion of the website or our offerings.
Submitting an inquiry through our website does not guarantee product availability, reserve a horse, or establish a purchase agreement.
2. Horses for Sale
The Golden Horse offers horses for sale and may advertise horses that are currently available, coming soon, or previously sold.
We make reasonable efforts to represent each horse honestly and accurately based on our knowledge, observations, and experience.
Listings may include information about a horse’s age, breed, registration, pedigree, height, temperament, training, experience, health history, photographs, and videos.
Horses are living animals, and their behavior, performance, health, and suitability may vary depending on their environment, handling, rider, management, and other circumstances.
Descriptions, photographs, and videos represent our knowledge and observations at the time they are provided and do not constitute a guarantee of future behavior, performance, health, or suitability.
Horse Availability
A horse advertised on our website is not guaranteed to remain available.
Listings may be changed, removed, placed on hold, or marked as sold at any time.
Horses advertised as “Coming Soon” are not guaranteed to become available for purchase.
3. Horse Purchases & Buyer Responsibility
Purchasing a horse is a significant decision, and we encourage prospective buyers to thoroughly evaluate any horse before making a purchase.
Buyers are encouraged to:
- Ask questions about the horse’s history, training, temperament, and health.
- Review available photographs, videos, and records.
- Meet and evaluate the horse in person whenever practical.
- Arrange an independent pre-purchase veterinary examination with a veterinarian of their choosing.
- Determine whether the horse is appropriate for their riding experience, intended use, and circumstances.
The buyer is responsible for making an informed purchasing decision.
The Golden Horse will disclose known information about each horse to the best of our knowledge. However, no horse can be guaranteed to remain completely sound, healthy, safe, or suitable for a particular rider or discipline throughout its lifetime.
Required Horse Purchase Agreement
Every horse sold by The Golden Horse LLC requires a separate written horse purchase agreement.
The agreement will outline the specific terms of the transaction, including payment, deposits, ownership transfer, health disclosures, transportation, and other applicable conditions.
If the terms of a signed horse purchase agreement conflict with these general Terms & Conditions, the signed purchase agreement will control to the extent permitted by law.
4. Horse Deposits & Payments
Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, deposits placed toward the purchase of a horse are nonrefundable.
Any deposit amount, payment deadline, reservation period, and other conditions will be established in the individual horse purchase agreement or written deposit agreement.
A horse is not considered reserved solely because a buyer has expressed interest.
All horses must be paid for in full, with payment received and cleared, before being released for pickup or transportation.
The Golden Horse reserves the right to decline a transaction or withhold release of a horse when agreed payment or documentation requirements have not been satisfied, subject to applicable law and the individual purchase agreement.
5. Horse Transportation & Pickup
Buyers may arrange to pick up their horse personally, hire a professional equine transporter, or inquire about transportation assistance through The Golden Horse.
The Golden Horse may occasionally provide transportation directly on a case-by-case basis, depending on scheduling, distance, equipment availability, and other circumstances.
Transportation services are not guaranteed.
Transportation Costs
The buyer is responsible for all transportation expenses unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
When The Golden Horse provides transportation, hauling charges are based on loaded mileage, with rates quoted individually and agreed upon before transportation is scheduled.
Buyers using a third-party transporter are responsible for selecting the transporter, coordinating arrangements, and paying all associated costs.
Pickup Deadline
Buyers must arrange pickup or transportation within seven (7) calendar days after both of the following have occurred:
- The horse’s purchase price has been paid in full and the payment has cleared.
- The horse purchase agreement has been signed by all required parties.
The seven-day period begins on the date the second requirement is satisfied.
Any extension must be approved by The Golden Horse in writing.
Delayed Pickup & Boarding Fees
If a horse is not picked up within the seven-day period, a boarding fee of $30 per calendar day will begin on the eighth calendar day unless another arrangement has been approved in writing.
Boarding fees continue until the horse is picked up or an alternative written arrangement is reached.
Additional veterinary, farrier, or specialized care expenses may apply as provided in the individual purchase agreement.
Outstanding boarding charges must be paid before release to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Health Certificates & Required Testing
The Golden Horse will assist in arranging necessary health certificates and travel documentation.
The buyer is responsible for the costs of required veterinary examinations, Coggins testing, health certificates, and other required testing or documentation.
Requirements may vary by destination, transportation provider, and applicable state or international regulations.
Transportation Responsibility
When a horse is picked up by the buyer or a third-party transporter acting on the buyer’s behalf, the risk of accidental injury, illness, or loss during transportation is intended to transfer to the buyer when the horse has been loaded onto the buyer’s or designated transporter’s trailer and accepted for transportation.
When transportation is provided directly by The Golden Horse, responsibility during transportation and the point of risk transfer will be established separately in the written agreements.
These provisions do not exclude liability that cannot legally be waived, including liability arising from actionable negligence or misconduct.
Ownership transfer, risk of loss, and other responsibilities remain subject to the signed purchase agreement and applicable law.
Transportation Delays
If a buyer’s transporter is late, cancels, or reschedules, the buyer is responsible for coordinating alternative arrangements and any resulting expenses.
Applicable boarding fees may continue during transportation delays.
If a horse becomes sick, injured, or otherwise unfit to travel before pickup, the situation will be addressed under the individual horse purchase agreement.
International Horse Sales
International horse sales may be considered by special arrangement.
International buyers are responsible for applicable transportation, veterinary testing, import permits, quarantine, customs, and other associated expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For additional details, please review our separate Horse Transportation & Pickup Policy.
6. Handmade Pulled Wool Saddle Pads
The Golden Horse offers handmade pulled wool saddle pads, including ready-made and custom-designed products.
Each pad is constructed by hand, and slight variations in dimensions, wool texture, color placement, patterns, and overall appearance may occur.
These natural variations are part of the handmade process and do not necessarily constitute a product defect.
We make reasonable efforts to represent product colors and designs accurately. However, colors may appear differently depending on lighting, photography, and individual screen settings.
7. Custom Saddle Pad Orders
Custom saddle pads are made according to the customer’s approved design and specifications.
Custom Order Deposits
A $150 nonrefundable deposit is required before work begins on a custom saddle pad.
This deposit is applied toward the total agreed-upon purchase price.
Before beginning construction, we will confirm the design, pricing, and estimated completion timeframe with the customer.
Design Approval
Customers are responsible for carefully reviewing and approving requested colors, dimensions, patterns, brands, initials, logos, symbols, and other custom details.
Because each pad is handmade, minor variations in design placement and appearance may occur.
Once construction begins, changes to an approved design may not be possible.
Any requested changes must be approved by The Golden Horse and may result in additional charges.
Custom Branding & Final Payment
The remaining agreed-upon balance must be paid in full before custom brands, initials, logos, or symbols are added to the pad and before the completed pad is shipped.
Any applicable shipping, insurance, and sales tax charges must also be paid before shipment.
Customer-Provided Brands, Logos & Designs
Customers requesting a custom brand, logo, symbol, or other protected design represent that they have the necessary rights or permission to use it.
The Golden Horse reserves the right to decline any requested design.
Customers are responsible for claims arising from their unauthorized use of third-party intellectual property, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
8. Custom Order Cancellations
If a customer cancels a custom saddle pad order after the deposit has been paid, the $150 deposit will not be refunded, except where required by law or otherwise agreed in writing.
If construction has already begun, the customer may cancel the order and forfeit the deposit without owing any additional unpaid portion of the purchase price.
If the customer has paid more than the required deposit, any amount paid beyond the $150 deposit will be refunded following cancellation, except where another lawful written arrangement applies.
The Golden Horse retains ownership of unfinished or completed products associated with a canceled order and may complete, modify, or resell them.
Cancellation requests must be communicated directly to The Golden Horse.
9. Unpaid Custom Order Balances
When a custom saddle pad is completed and ready for final payment, the customer will be notified.
The customer will have 30 calendar days from the date of written notice to pay the outstanding balance or arrange an alternative payment schedule approved in writing.
If payment has not been received and no alternative arrangement has been approved by the end of that period, The Golden Horse may cancel the order and offer the pad for resale, subject to the agreed order terms and applicable law.
The $150 nonrefundable deposit will be retained.
Any amounts previously paid beyond the deposit will be handled in accordance with the agreed cancellation terms and applicable law.
We will make reasonable efforts to communicate with the customer before canceling an unpaid order.
10. Saddle Pad Returns, Refunds & Defects
Custom Saddle Pads
Custom saddle pads are final sale, except when the product is defective, does not reasonably match the approved specifications due to an error on our part, or a remedy is required by applicable law.
Changes of mind, preference changes, or dissatisfaction with an approved design do not qualify for a return or refund.
Ready-Made Saddle Pads
Ready-made saddle pads are also final sale, except for defects, errors on our part, or circumstances where a remedy is required by applicable law.
Reporting Product Problems
Customers should contact The Golden Horse within 30 calendar days of delivery if they believe their saddle pad has a manufacturing defect or does not match the agreed specifications.
Please include a description of the issue and clear photographs when possible.
We will review the concern and work toward an appropriate resolution, which may include repair, replacement, refund, or another mutually agreed-upon remedy.
The 30-day notification period does not limit rights or remedies that cannot legally be restricted.
Normal handmade variations, ordinary wear, improper use, inadequate care, and damage caused by improper saddle fit do not automatically constitute manufacturing defects.
11. Payments & Sales Tax
The Golden Horse does not currently process payments directly through theghorse.com.
Accepted payment methods may include:
- Venmo
- Zelle
- Mailed check
- Cash for in-person transactions
Cash should not be sent through the mail.
Payments must be received and, when applicable, cleared before work begins, custom branding is added, or products are shipped, according to the terms of the individual order.
Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax will be calculated and collected separately when required by law.
Customers will be informed of applicable sales tax charges before final payment.
For international orders, the customer may also be responsible for applicable import taxes, customs duties, and related charges.
12. Saddle Pad Shipping
All saddle pads are shipped through the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Shipping costs are calculated individually based on the package’s size, weight, destination, and insurance requirements.
Shipping costs will be quoted before final payment.
Processing Times
Ready-made saddle pads typically ship within 1–3 business days after full payment has been received.
Custom saddle pads typically ship within 1–3 business days after completion and receipt of all required final payments.
Processing times do not include the time required to construct a custom saddle pad.
Shipping and delivery estimates are not guaranteed.
Shipping Insurance
Every saddle pad is insured for its full purchase value, subject to USPS coverage availability and applicable insurance terms.
Insurance costs are included in the shipping quote.
Tracking
Tracking information will be provided for every shipment.
Lost or Damaged Packages
If a saddle pad is lost or damaged during shipping, customers should contact The Golden Horse as soon as possible.
The Golden Horse will handle the applicable USPS insurance claim and work with the customer toward an appropriate resolution.
Customers may be asked to provide photographs, retain packaging, and cooperate with reasonable claim documentation requirements.
Incorrect Addresses
Customers are responsible for providing accurate shipping information.
Issues involving incorrect or incomplete addresses, returned packages, and additional shipping costs will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
International Shipping
International saddle pad shipping is available by request and subject to a separate quote.
Customers are responsible for applicable customs duties, import taxes, and other destination-country charges.
International shipments are subject to insurance availability and applicable postal restrictions.
Local Pickup
Local pickup may be arranged by appointment in Northern Utah.
For complete details, please review our separate Saddle Pad Shipping Policy.
13. Saddle Pad Use, Break-In & Care
Pulled wool saddle pads require appropriate use and care.
The break-in process may vary depending on the individual pad, horse, saddle, and frequency of use.
Customers should follow the break-in and care instructions provided by The Golden Horse, including checking and adjusting cinch tightness as needed during the initial break-in period.
Saddle pads should be used with properly fitting saddles and appropriate tack.
A saddle pad is not a substitute for a properly fitting saddle.
The Golden Horse does not guarantee that a saddle pad will correct existing saddle fit problems or prevent every type of pressure-related issue.
Customers are responsible for evaluating equipment suitability and monitoring their horse’s comfort.
14. Website Order Inquiries & Policy Acceptance
Our website allows customers to inquire about horses, saddle pads, and other offerings.

For orders arranged outside the website, acceptance of applicable terms may be documented through written communication or a signed agreement.
